Smart Power Strip
I could talk about this thing all day, not only can you turn on things remotely, but this power strip has a built in computer that uses the popular Lua scripting language so you can do stuff like periodically PING an internet site (like Google.com 6.6.6.6) and power cycle the modem if the connection needs to be reset.
The support folks even helped me create a script that sends me an email after it performs a successful reset and regains an internet connection!
At a price of less than $200 my New England friends would call it a BAR gain
